Snowed In

a cozy Christmas love story

My dear friend Natalie gifted me Snowed In by Catherine Walsh this holiday season. I was so excited to receive a holiday themed read as a gift- if you know me, then you know that Christmas is my favorite time of the year.

Snowed In is a cozy, festive holiday read.

It features a fake-dating trope, without the traditional miscommunication leading to dramatic break up plot line. It’s set in Ireland and starts with a smashing run-away bride scene. Our female main character is just your average gal (aside from leaving her fiancé at the alter) living her life. Our male main character is your typical white collar, ridiculous amount of money guy. Both moved away from home and both are chronically single.

Their love story starts out slow and grows on their journey back home for Christmas. The reader sees the two characters start to that they really do care for each other outside of the fake dating relationship. With alternating POV between the two main characters, the reader gets a taste of what each person is thinking and feeling, almost in real time. It’s a beautiful and easy read.

While I wouldn’t label this book as family-friendly, there’s not a lot of spice in this book, which makes it feel even more appropriately festive. It was refreshing to read a book that is focused on the characters and their personal growth instead of luring readers in with the promise of spicy scenes.

Overall, I would recommend this book for anyone looking to taste some holiday spirit and wanting an easy, relaxed read. I hope that you enjoyed this review!
